I AM NOT GOING TO WRITE ABOUT FLASH-GAMES!

This months game: Soldat

This game doesn't make a difference to the other 2D games. It's full mayhem, it has as good graphics as you can get with 2D, game engine is pure gold and it has lots of settings. I have seen hundreds of this kind of flash games, but this is something different. It's a multiplayer game! Nothing feels better than making a triple kill and, at the same time, knowing that all enemys you killed were players instead of stupid bots. This game has also another good thing. Developers of this game knew one important thing: Bots are stupid, but that's not a bad thing. If there are lots of them! Can you imagine a capture the flag when humans are playing against endless armies of stupid (but fast) zombie bots? There aren't so many weapons, but all of them are good and exciting. Would you like to have a knife or a chainsaw? Being a multiplayer game brings also many typical problems. Though this is a 2D game, you need a good connection and lots of skills.

This months game: Wolfteam

Wolfteam is one of the best free FPS games you can ever find. It's both free and commercial. That may sound bad, because often it is something like "you can do almost nothing without paying". But not in this game! I have played it for few months, I haven't used any money and I rock! You can always manage without money. Paying will make you much better, but don't make you invincible. It doesn't matter how much money you use. There can always be a sniper hiding somewhere and... Headshot! You are dead. But as the name says, the real good thing in this game are wolves! If the game mode isn't classic, you can transform into a wolf. There are many different wolves (only 4 without pay), hundreds of guns (primary, secondary and granades), lots of maps and many modes. This is the game to choose if you want intense, but still strategic combat with many weapons and good graphics.

This months game: Allegiance

What happened when Microsoft tried to make a space simulator? A mess. When published, Allegiance got many good reviews and a loyal playerbase, but it had one problem. It had REALLy high learning curve, wich made it allmost impossible for the newbies. Allegiance didn't sell well so Microsoft stopped developing it and published it under shared source license and it has now been developed by volunteers. Tough the game is now free, the ammount of players haven't been increasing. It's sad because this is one of the best space simulators ever. Server could handle 200 players but only about 20 is playing. Even with a small group this game is fun. It has hughe mass battles, realistic space simulation and good - but old - graphics. Lots of ship types and good teamworking. That's not even all. Allegiance is also a RTS game. Experienced players can take control and lead other players from a tactical RTS interface. This is just one game in the list of those games wich never succeeded.

This months game: Warsow

This game is a wonderful piece of the free game world. If you like Unreal Tournament or Quake, it is allmost 100% sure that you are going to love this game. Beautiful cell shaded graphics, cool weapons, lots of maps, lots of players and servers, lots of mods and grazy action. What else you could ask for? This game is just so wonderful. Lots of tricks like good old rocket jump and TWO different jumps give perfect freedom to choose how you move from place A to place B. Teamwork isn't playing so big part in this game. This game isn't asking for strategic or sosialic skills. You can just go and get a frag (or get fragged). Experienced players give challenge for those who think they are the best players in the world. With this game you can throw that kind of ideas to rubish. Good old shooting. Your free game collection isn't good without this pearl.

This months game: AssaultCube

This game is a weird piece of the open source family. Unlike many open source games, it isn't quite comprehensive. The ammount of settings is more than enough, but everything else is a bit too simple. Only 4 weapons + double pistols + granades. About 10 game modes and about 20 maps (+ user maps) isn't much but it's enough. Simple graphics... Quite simple shooting physics... Boring effects... But one thing really keeps suprising all the time. THIS GAME IS FUN! YOU HEARD RIGHT! THIS GAME IS FUN! Friends and enemies going everywhere trying to steal flags or get frags. Bulets flying. Shotgun trooper comes out from the corner and... BANG! Numbers going: 5....4....3.(you quickly change your start gun)..2....1... And going again! IT'S FUN! IT IS REALLY FUN!

This months game: Freedoom

If you know Doom, there is allmost nothing to say about this game. This game is just as good and sometimes even better. Original Doom source code is free for everyone to download and edit, but the graphics aren't. So, this game is based on the original Doom code, but all monsters look different and all the maps have been changed but the most important thing is still there. And that is the fact that Doom is really good game even with changed graphics. Fight against the forces of hell and try to survive. 6 different weapons (fists conted), ultimate action and lots of fighting. Enjoy!

This months game: Ultrastar

Ultrastar is a good excample how open source can beat big studios. Ultrastar is a Singstar copy to computer. How much better Ultrastar is than Singstar. Let's count. It's free (1), It's for computer (2), you can sing it with standard microphones (3), all songs are free also (4), It sometimes even looks better than Singstar (5), it has changeable themes wich are free also (6), there are more songs to Ultrastar than to Singstar (7), you can freely choose what songs you download so you don't have to by the whole game to get few songs you want (8), there are lot more places where you can look for help to Ultrastar than to Singstar (9) and Ultrastar is open-source game (10). 10 big reasons to play Ultrastar instead of Singstar. Singstar is good game but if you merge a good game and open source, the result is allways stunning. This game also shows that open source can do the same thing than studios. Good work guys!
